Digitally enhanced photograph 53.5x42cm framed

Alan Murphy is the Irish artist and writer-illustrator of four collections of poetry for children and teenagers. He has contributed visual art and poetry to numerous digital and print journals and anthologies in Ireland, the UK and the US, and exhibited throughout Ireland and abroad. Dublin born, he lives in Lismore, Co Waterford. Occasionally he reviews books for Inis magazine, and has recently taken up song writing via the guitar, which he plays badly.

He explains of his work “I take most of my photographs with a simple Canon Powershot camera, and often enhance or alter them by various means to try to create images with impact, atmosphere and pathos”.

“I would photograph an idea rather than an object, a dream rather than an idea.” - Man Ray
